How to Create Your Web Page
in Microsoft Front Page
Worksheet for the Web Page Creation Lesson
1. Before you begin making a web page on the computer, you need to:
- decide what you are going to put on your page or pages - Use
Inspiration to organize your work
- make a drawing of what you want your page or pages to look like
- decide on how many cells you will need in your page table
- count how many rows and how many columns your table will need
2. Create a folder to save your web page
1) Open Front Page
2) Click on FILE and go down to SAVE AS – be sure
you are in your file
3) Click on the NEW FOLDER icon - the folder with the
star on it. A new folder will appear
4) Name the folder. Type in your first name, last
initial, and the word WEB.
- Example: John S web (no periods)
Be sure any pictures for your web page that you download
from the Internet or take with the digital cameras are put in this folder
BEFORE you put them on your page!
3. To set up Front Page to make your web pages:
1) Open Front Page
2) Create your table
- Click on TABLE, go down to INSERT, go over to TABLE and click
- In the box that appears, tell the computer how many columns and
how many rows you will need in your table (columns
are up and down, rows are across)
- Resize the cells in your table (move the lines)
- Merge
cells where you want larger spaces, Split cells where
you need to divide a cell into more parts (click on TABLE at the top of the
page)
3) INSERT pictures and/or Word Art into the cells
- Be sure to resize your work and format pictures as needed
- Remember: each picture must go in a different cell
4) Type text into cells
- Choose the font, size, and color – DO NOT use unusual fonts.
- Remember: words go in different cells – not in the same cell as a
picture.
5) Change background colors (if you want)
- To change a cell, RIGHT CLICK on the cell, click on CELL PROPERTIES, and
change the BACKGROUND color
- To change the table, RIGHT CLICK on the table, click on TABLE
PROPERTIES, and change the BACKGROUND color
- To change the whole page, RIGHT CLICK on the page, click on PAGE
PROPERTIES, and change the BACKGROUND color
6) Make table lines disappear (if you wish)
- RIGHT CLICK on the table, click on TABLE PROPERTIES, and change the
BORDER size to 0 (zero)
7) Preview your work
- Click PREVIEW at the bottom of the page
- Click NORMAL at the bottom of the page to continue working to make
changes
8) Save your work
- Be sure to save your work in the special web folder
- Be sure all the pictures you used are also in that same folder
(clip art will go there automatically)
4. To turn in your work for grading
1)PRINT a copy of your page
- If you are not finished when the work is due, print what you have
2) Attach your work to the rubric
- The teacher will give you the rubric page
3) Be sure your name is written on both the rubric and your
work
4) Turn in your work
5. Seeing your work on the Internet
1) Mr. Abbott will select 3 or 4 pages from each class to
put onto the Internet.
- Mr. Abbott can not fit everyone’s work onto the website (Sorry!)
- The best and most creative work will be selected from each class
