How to Start GroupWise

1. Login to the computer network
2. Open the Novell Delivered Applications window.  Find the Groupwise Web Mail icon.
3. Double click on the Groupwise Web Mail icon.
4. Type in your username and e-mail password.
5. Your mailbox will appear on the screen.

How to Read Your Mail

1. Double click on the name of the sender or on the subject of the message you wish to read.  The message appears.
2. If you wish, you may print and/or save your messages.
     a) To print, click on the word FILE and then click on PRINT.  Follow the directions on the screen.
     b) To save, click on the word FILE and then click on the word SAVE AS.  When the SAVE box appears, click on SAVE. Your message will be saved.  Web access e-mail is saved as a web page.
3. To close a message, click CLOSE.
4. You may open and read the next message.

How to Reply to a Message

1. When the message is on the screen, click REPLY TO SENDER.
2. Type your reply message in the MESSAGE box.  (The other boxes are filled in automatically.)
3. Click SEND.  Your message has been sent.

How to Forward to a Message

1. When the message is on the screen, click FORWARD.
2. Type the address of the person you are sending to in the TO box  (The other boxes are filled in automatically.
3. Click SEND.  Your message has been sent.

How to View and Save Attachments

      1.      If a message has an attachment, a “paper clip” icon appears below the subject.  Beside the “paper clip” is the list of attachments.
2.      Beside each attachment are three (3) buttons:  VIEW, OPEN, and SAVE AS.
3.      To VIEW the attachment, click VIEW.  Close the attachment after viewing.
4.      To OPEN and/or SAVE an attachment, click either OPEN or SAVE AS.  A warning box appears.
    ·        Click OPEN to open the attachment.  You can view the file and and save it if you wish.
    ·        Click SAVE to save the attachment in your folder without viewing it
5.      Repeat steps 3-5 for each attachment.
6.      WARNING:  Attachments can be infected with viruses.  DO NOT open attachments from people you do not know!!!

How to Delete Messages From Your In Box

Method 1:
1.      Open the message.
2.      Click on the DELETE button.
3.      Your message is deleted.

Method 2:
  
     1.      In your mailbox, click on the small box beside the message.  A check mark appears.
        2.      Click the box on every message you wish to delete.
        3.      Click on the DELETE button.
        4.      Your message is deleted.

How to Write and Send a Message

1. Open GroupWise and log in to your mailbox
2. Click the NEW icon (the picture of paper and pencil).
3. Type the e-mail address you want to sent the message to in the TO box.
4. Type a subject for the message in the SUBJECT box.  (E-mail must have a subject)
5. Write your message in the MESSAGE box.
6. Proofread your message.  Click on SPELL CHECK if needed.
7. Click SEND to send your message.

How to Address E-Mail

To Other UMSD users:
    ·        Type the username in the TO box.  (You may also type username@umtsd.org)

   To Addresses Outside UMSD:
      ·        Type the complete e-mail address in the TO box.  (Example: rabbott@aol.com)

How to Use the Address Book (some address books are for staff only)

1. Click the NEW button (see above).
2. Click on the ADDRESS BOOK button
3. Choose the address book you are using in the “Address Book” box.
4. Type in the person you are looking for in the boxes above the “Address Book” box.
5. Click SEARCH.  All possible addresses appear in the window.
6. Find the address you want on the list.  Double click on the address.  The address appears on your e-mail.  You may add more addresses to your TO box.
7. Finish writing and sending your mail (see above).


How to Attach a File

      1.      You can attach any file in your folder to e-mail
2.      Click on the COMPOSE icon to write a new message (see above).
3.      Click on the ATTACH button.  The “attach” screen appears.
4.      Click on BROWSE and go to your folder.
5.      Find the file you want to attach and double click on it.  The file will appear in the window on the “attach” screen.
6.      Click ADD to add the attachment to the e-mail
7.      Repeat steps 4-6 to add more attachments.
8.      Click OK to return to the message.

How to Use GroupWise Web Mail from Home (or non-UMSD computers).

      1.      To use GroupWise Web Mail from non-UMSD computers, you must be on a computer that has access to the Internet.
2.      Type in this URL:  www.umtsd.org/email
3.      E-mail will now work just as it does at school
